What Is H.O.T?

St. Pete's H.O.T (Helping Our Troops) was formed in 2007 by Jodi Davis, Janis Upham & Lynn Hawkins of St. Petersburg, FL.

"HOT" sends care packages and letters of love to our soldiers overseas, they are a drop off for www.cellphonesforsoldiers.com, they coordinate farewell and welcome home ceremonies for units deploying or returning, and any other requests/needs or wants for veterans or active military in the community.

All efforts are focused on military that has deployed from a local branch (Army AR-MEDCOM, Coast Guard, etc).  They also adopt immediate family members of St. Pete residence / business owners.

Here are some "HOT" Facts:

HOT coordinated all of the following donations......

150 care packages shipped to Iraq - December 2007

35
cell phones donated and shipped to soldiers - November 2008

45 boxes were shipped to Iraq and Afghanistan - December 2008

In March 2008, a farewell ceremony for ARMEDCOM CSH 345 took place.  Community members, city council, the mayor, media and many others donated food, time, and the wave of a flag to wish them well.  Volunteers, donors, and all of the coordination was through St. Pete's HOT.

60 pen pals were connected with Pinellas County residents - March 2009

HOT coordinated the donation of furniture to a Vietnam veteran with terminal cancer - April 2009

These are just some of the many things that St. Pete's HOT, with the help of the community,  does for our soldiers and veterans.
